A save file also known as a savegame, game save or savefile is a digital record of a player's progress in an electronic game. These files are typically stored on a hard drive or memory card. Save files allow the player to quit the game and continue later where he or she left off.
In Tomb Raider, every time you save your game, a file is created containing information about your progress so far—Lara's location, health status, inventory, items found and used, enemies killed, etc.
When you reload a game you have previously saved, your computer or console interprets the savegame file and restores Lara and her world to the way they were when you saved. Computer users can manipulate these files outside of game play using savegame editors. The instruction page covers this as well. As in the Windows version, Anniversary for Mac stores a player's progress in two separate files: save files and profiles. Both file types are available here, and the Mac instructions explain how to use them.
TRA Macintosh collection - Various saves for all levels and a profile with the game completed, all artifacts and relics found. Macintosh Anniversary Complete - Mac profile with all the time trials completed and all bonuses unlocked. You're welcome to experiment with this, though I do recommend backing up your existing saves first, in case anything goes wrong and you have to reload a save from your original game.
Profiles made in the Windows PC game generally do not work with the Mac game. That is, they may load, but tend to cause bugs, such as non-functioning grapple points, etc. These will not work with European PAL format consoles. PAL saves follow. Because Wii save slots are limited, I have not made a complete set of saves for all checkpoints.
The following selection includes saves after every boss fight and many other especially difficult sequences. Each download includes a data file with 4 saves, along with a text file describing the location of each save, plus instructions for transferring the files to the Wii.
