Do you always lock them rigid when doing small grain? I've never cut it straight, but finding someone to swath it is getting harder and harder.
Yes they work well in small grains we cut barley and wheat with our 2 heads. And if it is short they do not a bad job. There is 8 plates that go on the 2 by 2 pipes that flex on the bottom of the header.
These plats are held by 2 bolts each. It is a 20 minute job to lock up 30ft header. There are 6 plates for the I have done wheat many times with it locked up and it did a good job of cutting as long as you keep your knife sharp.
